Ibrahim El-Hibri Interfaith Iftar Dinner Held in 2013

Based out of Washington, D.C., Fuad El-Hibri serves as the founder and chairman of the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit group dedicated to building a better world by embracing the universally shared values of Islam—peace and social justice. The Foundation supports peace education, interfaith cooperation, and women's rights through grants and events . One of the organization’s major events each year is the Ibrahim El-Hibri Interfaith Iftar dinner.

The most recent dinner was held on July 16, 2013, a date which signified both the eighth day of Ramadan and the Ninth of Av, which are fasting days for both Muslim and Jewish individuals. To further acknowledge the organization’s interfaith mission, His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick was selected as the keynote speaker.

Religious leaders and Washington dignitaries attended the ceremony and listened to McCarrick discuss the Common Word initiative. The joint Christian-Muslim program operates with a global reach, as it inspires religious communities to enter an era “based on love, not fear.”
