Zesto is an innovative home appliance, designed in order to keep the drinks warm. In comparison with the other existing devices which keep the drinks warm, zesto is environmentally friendly because it operates without the constant need of an external power source as do the rest. All the energy which zesto needs is produced by an environmentally friendly chemical reaction, which takes place into a part of the device. In addition, this chemical reaction is reversible which makes zesto reusable with minimum cost.

How does it work

The ring contains water, a small metal disc and sodium acetate, a safe food grade salt ingredient.When first boiled the mixture inside the pouch is heated to completely dissolve the sodium acetate in the water.This makes the contents clear and liquid.After cooling, the sodium acetate remains dissolved producing a solution that is supersaturated. This means that the heat energy that was required to dissolve the sodium acetate into the water still remains in the system even though the temperature has dropped. Almost like a Heat Battery!When that energy is released the temperature is raised to a maximum of 130F (54C). Having the dark coloured lane at the inside of the ring makes certain that heat losses to the enviroment are minimized. The process is theoretically repeatable indefinitely.

Usage

Firstly we make sure that the ring is in liquid state and in place inside the ceramic base. We put the cup with the hot drink inside the ring and then click the metal disc.The clicking of the disk within the ring triggers the precipitation of the sodium acetate crystals. When the crystals precipitate, it releases the energy that was required to initially dissolve it and stored in the pouch. Then we sit back, relax and enjoy our drink.

Reusing it!

Really Simple... once the heat has been exhausted, just drop the ring in gently boiling water for 5-10 minutes.The heat reverses the reaction and crystals will then turn back in to the liquid form. Once cooled to room temperature, “zestό” is ready to be used again.
