Some wooden rings made of veneer. Because the grain of the wood runs around the rings, they are surprisingly strong. Also the glue between the veneer layers adds a lot of strength. Breaking a ring by pushing it from the sides seems almost impossible.
First veneer is boiled to make it soft. Veneer is then glued around a round object, such as a battery. Once the glue has dried, sanding can begin.
After sanding off the rough edges and sizing the hole.
After giving the ring the correct shape with finer sandpapers.
Finishing the ring with varnish and wax gives it a nice look and makes it more resistant against water etc.
These rings are made of birch and walnut.
