O+finger (red > orange red)

Beyond the inevitable direction vector that represents, the “wood indexes” in the old typographic posters is shown as markedly conative element and certainly as one of the handiest metalinguistic elements used. Furthermore, the pregnancy and the optical perfection –not geometrical- of the “O” in the Futura typography (Paul Renner, 1927) and its numerous descendants, make them the two favorite pieces of my small workshop.

In this case, appear together in a composition that I hardly know how to define, even though I tried -in an earlier version of the poster- in this entry of the blog.

Test press was used for hand and percussion press for the gradient. In both cases inking and pressure is manual.

Más allá del inevitable vector de dirección que representa, la mano se nos muestra en los viejos carteles tipográficos como elemento marcadamente conativo y sin duda como uno de los elementos metalingüísticos más socorridos. Por otro lado, la pregnancia y perfección óptica -que no geométrica- de la "O" en la tipografía Futura (Paul Renner, 1927) y sus numerosas descendientes, la convierten -junto a la anterior- en dos de las piezas predilectas de mi pequeño taller.

En este caso aparecen juntas en una composición que difícilmente sabría definir, aunque lo intenté -en una versión anterior del cartel- en esta entrada del blog.

40x50cm. (15¾ x 19¾") en un tiraje de 32 ejemplares impresos en dos pasos sobre papel Biblos 140 gr. de Cartiera Magnani.

Se usó una prensa de pruebas para la mano y la prensa de percusión para el degradado. En ambos casos el entintado y la presión son manuales.
