- This is a self-initiated project, which I design a series of advertising posters for JimmyJane, an existing sex toy company.
It’s not just all about shock value to grab audience’s attention; there is also a sense of humour that make them laugh and hold their interest more than a few seconds. Sex appeal is so powerful that advertising and mass media keep pushing the boundaries of acceptability. What was impossible one decade becomes ordinary the next. Thus comes the inevitability: society has grown accustomed and desensitized to its very occurrence. There is no question that the curve of a breast is desirable, but in an advertising environment where skin is no longer hidden, flesh alone is not a priority turn-on. Today, what is shown is less important than what is implied. My challenge is how to sell sex without provoking sensuality.
