Opening Night 6 - 8pm Wednesday 7th March, 2012 at The Copper House Gallery, off Synge Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Illustrated, as advertised is Steve Simpson’s first solo show since Miss Baker pinned his “Birds of the British Isles” series to the cork board in 3rd class. That exhibition lasted a whole term, you only have a mere 3 weeks to see this one.
The Copper House Gallery are delighted to announce the launch of Illustrated, as advertised, an exhibition by illustrator and designer Steve Simpson opening Wednesday 7th March 2012, 6-8pm. Illustrated, as advertised is the first solo exhibition by Steve Simpson, winner of the 2011 ’Revolution’ Illustration at Fire Competition. This Illustration at Fire Competition marks the second disbursement of the Fire €150,000 Arts Fund.
This exhibition showcases a selection of recently commissioned and self initiated projects, from a career that spans over two decades. The eclectic mix of images are united by Steve Simpson’s vintage colour palette and inimitable sense of design.

Steve Simpson has created award winning illustration for high-profile advertising and design companies on a national and international scale. His idiosyncratic characters have appeared on everything from postage stamps to billboards, snack packaging to chilli bottles.

On the judging panel for the ‘Revolution’ Illustration at Fire Competition were Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather Laurence O’Byrne, The Small Print’s Bren Byrne and The Copper House Gallery Curator Leszek Wolnik. The winning image was All the Signs of the Revolution by Steve Simpson.

Illustrated, as advertised runs at The Copper House Gallery, Dublin from 7th March until 28th March 2012. Admission is free and all are welcome.
