Dambusters, the flood

Illustration for Derwent Dam Museum

I was asked to create a design for souvenirs for Derwent Dam Museum targeting school children who visit the Museum, the design needed to be scalable as it may be applied on a range of souvenirs, i.e T shirts and Mugs.

I decided to create an illustrative Dambusters piece as it was a large part of the history of the dam. Squadron 617 or, the Dambusters would practice low flying runs over the dams in preparation for their legendary mission, operation chastise.

The Museum itself is full of old packaging and posters from war time with propaganda themes which is trending today so I decided to bring this theme into my response.

Following the 75th Anniversary of Operation Chastise The Folio Society asked me to adjust my design to front their re-publishing of the classic novel The Dambusters. I'm really thankful to have been offered this opportunity and now after the book launch it has been very well recieved!
