Bus is a year long project documenting Ireland's only Mobile Health Clinic providing primary health care (GP) to the homeless, street sex workers, drug users and HIV+ people. It is one of three such buses in Europe and is independently funded. The doctors staff the bus pro-bono after normal sugary hours, Topaz petrol stations donate the fuel. The bus is facilitated by four stakeholders Safety Net, The Simon Community, Chrysalis and the Order of Malta. Without their continued support neither the bus or this project would exist.
The project explores health as a basic human right which should be available to all and questions the traditional doctor - marginalised patient relationship.
The project outcome will be a book to be published mid-2013. The book will contain various writings by a number of contributors alongside the photographs.
The images are untitled. When I showed them to friends sometimes they were not too sure who was the client and who was the service provider. I think that ambiguity should remain.
