Tatly

Tatly’s product is a gift or invitation to offer a close person, child, or to travel. This box contains the necessary ingredients to make a Turkish recipe, such as a samsa. The engraved glass jar refers to the traditional tableware. We observe the ingredients, see the textures and imagine the tastes and odours which make us elated as we look them. By opening the pot, we have the ingredients that make up the filling in a separated inner packaging - for a healthy matter - and then the pre-cut pastries. In the cork we discover a cover plate, decorated by a flower from the country. Thanks to scented polish, we can smell the flower by a friction of the picture, we are immersed in a Tukish garden. By removing the cover plate, we find on the reverse side the recipe of the cake. It is possible to keep the cardboard as a perfumed memory of a shared moment, but also to pass by the cake. We also have two tea bags in the cork because this is a typical drink from Turkish culture. We relay knowledge, but we also share a precious moment.
Visual Identity

For this gift, we wanted a simple name, emotional and soft. We chose «Tatly», which is normally written «Tatli», the diminutive of «Tatlilik», «softness» in Turkish language. We matched it with a long, elegant and ornamented typeface like the Turkish calligraphy and its style. We put henna illustrations in the visual identity to reinforce the Turkish universe, just as the contrasted colours.
Technique

For the container that is also the packaging, we have used transparency with the help of a noble material, glass, which is reminiscent of Canan Kutay’s tableware. To bring a tradition and custom side, we engraved the glass with Tatly’s logo. The cork is made of a matte plastic and lightly exceeds the jar’s size to allow easier access. The cork is screwed with the help of wales in the glass for a hermetic closing. Inside the jar, we find a second container in rigid and hermetic transparent plastic to separate the ingredients from the pastry, which allows then user to remove the ingredients from the packaging properly. The cover plate, which encloses the tea bags, is composed of thickly coated paper printed with scented ink, releasing a smell as the user touches the paper. Through our packaging, we wanted to induce four of the five senses: the sense of smell, vision, touch, and finally, the sense of taste.
