During a year, I have been working on my end of studies project, Agoora. It is a tactile tablecloth to use during the family meals. In order to create that project, I studied the family table in France, the uses and habits arount it. I discovered during my readings that the family table that carries in France the notions of social, sharing and conviviality suffers because of the technological evolutions. We assist to the individualization of the French family table. There, I asked myself a question: How to melt tradition to the actual technology to reinvent the table manners?

The second part of the work was to question my users across two surveys: one online, which reached 115 answers, and the second as a logbook with 16 families during a week. It allowed me to discover the true habits of my users and create the basis of my project: the table as a mediation tool.
I created these four pilots for my project: all melting table and technology.
Next, I decided to look for the perfect technology to create my idea. Quickly, I turned toward the OLED screen which is a flexible screen recently developed. It became clear to me that I had to create a tool using this flexible screen that is part of the close future. Agoora was born.
Agoora is a tablecloth made with a flexible screen that uses the OLED technology. It allows the family to be together again during the meal while created or reinforcing the bounds between the members. It is an app with various capacities to animate the meals and the dialogue. All the parts of the app have been created according to the users I questioned: calling, agenda, games, photos, news, atmosphere, research.
Homepage and settings
Calling (on the tablecloth and the message on the smartphone)
Agenda and Games
Photos and News
Atmosphere and Research
The interface is adapted to the tangible elements on the table (if there is a bottle on the table, there won't be any tactile part of the app under it). It is also adapted to the table. The gesture is simple and intuitive. To upload a picture on the app, you just have to slide it from the smartphone to the tablecloth.
Here's a scenario to understand how you can use Agoora and how it works.
I also developed a website, a brochure and other items to carry Agoora's brand image.
