Design Pavilion
2018

Harry Allen brings all of his experience to bear as Creative Director of Design Pavilion.

Part design exhibition, part experiential-marketing event, part pop-up store, part launch-pad, and part theatrical happening, Design Pavilion serves as the public hub of NYCxDESIGN, the New-York-City-wide design initiative that takes place in May.

The first Design Pavilion in 2016 was held in Astor Place. In 2017 Times Square Alliance became a strategic partner, hosting us in Times Square and providing much support. We now fill all 5 plazas of Times Square with interactive, design-forward installations. The goal is to help sponsors tell their brand stories using design as a tool, all the while educating the public about design.

Harry Allen along with Founding Producer Ilene Shaw helps sponsors envision installations, connect sponsors with creative talent, and guide the overall look and feel. The third edition featured here included installations by Inflate UK, Avery Dennison, NY Magazine, American Design Club, Duggal, Zu Studio, Mio Culture, Pratt Institute, Magis/Herman Miller, and the Times Square Design Lab.

Media partners included NASDAQ, NY Magazine, and  Superior digital Display. Stefan Hengst and Klaus Kempenaars created the identity and graphic installations on various screens throughout Times Square were created by the Dutch interactive studio, Circus Family.
