I have always wanted to do a shoot with fairy lights, using both a still and moving subject. This was a rather impromptu shoot but I am quite happy with the results.
The images I have produced appear somewhat extra-terrestrial with a dark undertone. You cannot quite be sure if my figure is human or something else. The movement I have captured implies a conflicted nature within the figure, she is fighting something either inside herself or in her surroundings. The shadows created on her face make her appear quite grim, despite her innocent features complimented by the light. This juxtaposition makes the audience think and draw on their own experiences to project onto my work as to what is going on.
I like posing questions and challenging the viewer with my images. I want to provoke thought and encourage imagination by presenting dichotomies within aesthetically eccentric photographs.
