UW-Stout Campus Wayfinding System

UW-Stout Wayfinding System
Redesign exterior campus signs and map
For this project we had to create an identity system and exterior wayfinding system that could be integrated into UW-Stout's existing infrastructure. My concept is to merge Stout's polytechnic ideal and it's history (the city of Menomonie's foundation was a lumber company) into a clean, simple, modern design. The combination of galvanized metal and lumber elude to the "hands-on" industrial curriculum which Stout is known for. The juxtaposition of these materials along with the sleek forms of the signs presents a fresh, modern system for the historically rich campus.

The campus map would be silk screened onto a clear plastic in-lay placed into the wood structure. The "I" would be cut out of the metal to reveal the wood texture.
