Remember Web 2.0? All that awesome gloss and faux 3D-ness popping off the screen? 2016 is time to revive it! With that in mind, here's Day 4 - Web 2.0 Button....

OK... Maybe we should leave it in 2007. Let's wait a few more years and let hipsters bring it back when pants that are too short and beards become to mainstream.

Built in C4D using a Oil Tank (Has anyone else ever used that?), a torus, a tube, and to round it off a cube. Ha see that joke? Pretty simple, plus the bonus of all being primitive objects.

*// Textures:
Luminance channel, reflectance channel using Top Coat

*// Lighting:
GSG Softbox as main front light, positioned to provide the 2.0 Gloss / reflective look
Spotlight to add some shadowing to IO symbol, composition tag to exclude it’s effects from the Oil Tank object

*//Render:
Physical render + DOF, Ambient Occlusion

*//Photoshop
Composite of Multipass layer (Shadow, AO, Reflection)

*// Scene:
Elements / Objects: 16
Polygons: 0 (21417)
Textures: 5, but 2 of them are for the Softbox…
Lights: 2, GSG Softbox + standard spotlight with composite tag
Render time: 4 minutes for wider show, 8 minutes for closeup.

*// Problems:
…None Really. Good result for a simple scene! #winning
*// Tip of the Day
Object a bit dark but create other problems when adding in increasing intensity of lights? Luminance channel!

As always, thanks for watching & questions welcome!

Not shown - GSG Softbox as the main relection light
New Photoshop artboards are great! Just need to work out how to instance layers so a change on one will reflect a change in another...
