NYLD//15 Opening Video

National Young Leader's Day 2015 (NYLD) are annual events held throughout major centers in New Zealand with the aim to inspire and teach students with a day of motivational speakers ranging from industry leaders to politicians. This year, POST[media] were contracted to build the opening video and other playback for the tour.

Working closely with The Production Co. we not only built the content but supplied the playback system to simultaneously play content out to the 3 video systems - LED, projection screens and Puffersphere. The Puffer created a major wow factor with its 360° spherical display, and we took advantage of that by raising and lowering it seveal times throughout the show.
When the lights go down, the crowd cheers, the music starts and Puffersphere starts to drop while glowing with the music. We built anticipation before the LED bursts to life to tell the rest of the story setting the scene for the theme of the day - your amazing journey.

The Opening video was built in Cinema 4D then composited in After Effects. We relied heavily on x-particles 3 for all the streams, trails and particle work

Hindsight:
- More work on the Lighting, the end result provided a clear and bright look but a bit more shadow to make the 3D pop wouldn't go amiss
- Tidier camera movements
- RSMB made a bit of a mess of the Physical sky, despite some tweaking it was 70% there but some shots it's obvious something is not quite right.
- Some more razzle-dazzle on the puffersphere, although there was some other media on it throughout the day
- The blimmin' earth spins the WRONG WAY....

Playback:
MacPro reudunat media server system
Q-Lab 3 - pro version for multiple outputs
