Newfoundland, Canada

Newfoundland, Canada is an island on the far eastern coast of North America. It is home to a diverse landscape of windswept mountains, deep fijords, sub-artic tundra, and roaring water.

Many of the awe inspiring landscapes are found within Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heratage Site. Home to the table lands, the largest formation of exposed mantle rock. Once a part of the ocean floor, it is now a mountain range of orange-red rock. Other natural wonders abound, including Greene Point, a site used by geologists to date the earth through examining fossils. Further inland, large cliffs fall into lakes and create majestic fijords. Gros Morne mountain is a 2,600 flat, desolate peak of loose rock home to a slice of arctic tundra and cairabo heards. The wooded valleys are home to abundant moose and a few black bear.

These photos are an attempt to capture the raw beauty of this incredible land. The wide angle approach captures the broad picture and wide-open feel of the landscape. Captured with a Canon T3i and Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM lens.
