Chibeasties is the latest game from Yggdrasil Gaming, and it features an exciting Free spin mode where one random symbol will expand and offer the player the chance to fill the entire screen and win on all twenty lines each spin! As Game Art Manager I handled Concept Design and Creative Director duties...
I had total creative freedom on this project, so the first step was to come up with the look of the Chibeasties themselves...
I designed dozens of creatures before we finally settled on a look that we all liked.
The Chibeasties were the High Pay Symbols in the game, therefore it was important to design each one with its own unique colour and style.
Once we were happy with our High Pay Symbols, we moved on to the Low Pay Symbols. The initial Low Pay Symbols were going to be another race of smaller creatures...one's that were lower down in the food chain, but towards the end of the project we changed them from creatures to plants!
The main feature of The Chibeasties is the Expanding Feature in the Free Spin Mode. So all the symbols needed to be able to expand in a unique and exciting way...
