Visual Communications 2 - Social Designer

For this project, we were to address using design, a social issue that plagues our society. It can be anything that helps to perhaps raise awareness or solve a particular social issue.

For myself, the issue that I chose to address was our reliance on our mobile phones. With the easy access of the internet and social media, we have slowly begun to live out our social lives online.
For this project, I decided to have a little fun and poke at how we have slowly replaced our phones.

The 'I phone' pokes fun at this by replacing all the outdoor activities we would enjoy with our friends with the apps that we always play with on our phones. The tagline: 'Get a life' is meant to have a double meaning where it tells people to.. well, get a life.

The box comes with a set of cards that detail each 'app', poking fun and telling people not to waste their time in the outside world. It was meant as a 'tongue-in-cheek' style project with a subtle hidden message behind.
The fun part for me was of course the tongue-in-cheek type of humor that comes with the product, but also the vectoring! I enjoy vectoring stuff so it was fun to vector out all the different illustrations and icons. I like to be a little detailed sometimes, so even vectoring out the phone takes me a while. But overall it was a rather fun project to do!
