Atelier, the student government association at the Boston Architectural College, sponsors a lecture series each fall and spring semester. In 2010, they were looking for direction to ensure a new poster design would conform to the BAC's brand standards (to which I nearly squealed with delight). They had a name for the series, tons of great design ideas, a plethora of potential images, and a clear view of what they wanted the poster to accomplish. They just needed our help (and funds) to get their message to firms, students, faculty, and the general public.
The students wanted the poster to have grab, which they were able to accomplish with the use of Mikkel's exceptional photo skills. It also needed to be flexible, to accomodate changing photography per semester. It had to be quick and easy to update (they are in final reviews when it's time to begin design), and still harmonious with the BAC brand.
I helped by refining typography, color correcting images, coordinating with faculty/staff for critique, polishing the determined layout direction, kerning, and by overseeing prepress and on-press procedures.
