1951 Soda Packaging

A while back I created a packaging concept for a small start-up brewery looking to break into the soda market with a rootbeer of their own. To that end, I helped them not only develop the packaging itself, but the brand posture and marketing for their new product, which we collaboratively decided to name 1951 Rootbeer, giving it the tagline of "Rootbeer with grandpa's attitude" to keep it in line with their kitschy brand image and retro 1950's personality. At the same time, they wanted to be able to keep their image fresh and attract attention, so we went with a concept of using the label as a place to feature regularly rotating artwork from different artists, so that they could regularly update the image to keep their packaging from becoming stale without having to completely re-brand which I developed the painting of the scrapyard you see on the packaging below to start them off with. All told, it was a really fun project to work on with a great start-up and I had an awesome time on the project.
