Confessions of a Jelly Doughnut:
Poster design created on my enlistment into the US Army National Guard as a mental portrait of the various things that make up me and inform my decisions as a designer, illustrator and soldier.
Sometimes I'm just juvenile enough to find garden gnomes hilarious, but serious enough to use them to put down my thoughts on daily life in the job.
Little Warrior #1:
As part of the project, I became several smaller projects to explore style. Little Warriors developed from a fascination with the lengths to which some small birds will go to defend their territories and homes.
Back in 2010 I ordered a sketchbook to take part in the Sketchbook Project. I have yet to actually manage to fill it and turn it in.
Little Warriors #2:
There's really no subtext here. Owls are just vicious fighters and barn owls in particular mottling reminds me of the camouflage worn by the Wehrmacht.
