Museu da Cidade de Aveiro - Design para exposição

The "Museu da Cidade de Aveiro" (Aveiro CIty Museum)  celebrated António Campos Graça's love for the Venice of Portugal, through a photographic exhibition. More than that, it shows:

The Man.

Aveiro, the city he loved.

The lens that captured his passion.

The photographic work.

The documents and photographic records held in Aveiro's City Hall archives.

We designed and conceived the whole graphic content of the exhibition, inspired by the work of António Campos Graça (father) that his son, also António Campos Graça gathered.
We were inspired not only by the person but also in his vision and love for Aveiro and its evolution through time.
For the graphic concept of this exhibition, showing the work and estate of this amateur photographer, we used the graphic metaphor of a gaze that discovers, registers and reveals the city of Aveiro. The rectangular shapes represent the geographical disposition of the city and its typical salt fields, which are divided into similar shapes. The circle that cuts these shapes represents the gaze of the photographer himself, the person, the "aveirense" (person from Aveiro)...
We obviously use photographs of the author to complement this idea and adorn the compositions. This was also essential for some contextualization about the style and content of the exhibition.

The colours used are inspired by the classic tones of photography (black & white, sepia).
The exhibition opened to the public on May 7th and closes on September 4th, so you still have time to witness António Campos Graça's love for Aveiro, which the City Museum exhibits and perpetuates.
Thank you for your time! 😁
