Book design, cover and illustrations for the book "Sexta-feira da semana passada", by Manuel Carlos Karam, for Brazilian publishing house Arte & Letra. It is a special edition of the first book written by this extraordinary author. The book has ten illustrations and was all RISO printed and bound manually, which makes each copy unique and represents my proposal to work with alternative forms of printing and binding, seeking to combine traditional techniques with new technologies as a productive and competitive solution to the market. Each copy is numbered.
This project brings together the text and the illustrations in a design that gives life to the creations of a mind as inventive as this writer´s, who´s characteristic is to create images that play with the absurd and nonsense. Hence came the idea of materializing these images into illustrations and finding a layout for the book that expressed these characteristics. The entire book was RISO printed, giving a "grainy/reticulated" effect, the book was cut along with the cover, and the jacket is also a poster.
As the book was printed in RISO and in two colors, all the illustrations had to be split into different files to be printed separately.
