Takamine Koji Whiskey

Jokichi Takamine’s story is one of the American Dream—an immigrant who made a fortune and left the world a better place. With his 170th birthday fast approaching, we have decided to pay homage to the samurai scientist with new packaging. While Takamine was the first Japanese person ever to make whiskey, he is best remembered for his lasting contributions to medicine and philanthropy.

Takamine Whiskey is a koji-fermented whiskey true to the Japanese koji spirit distilling tradition. It is delicious and it is paving the road to a new category of spirits coming out of Japan. Look for it, enjoy it and look for more.

The recent label update reflects the design vernacular of Dr. Takamine’s other world contributions, particularly Takamine’s Taka-Diastase koji-based digestive aid. Design elements from Takamine’s medical contributions—particularly Takamine’s Taka-Diastase koji-based digestive aid—have now been translated into an updated label design for Takamine 8-Year Koji Whiskey
