Adidas + Bacánika: Manual Bacániko para inspirarse

This illustration was a commissioned cover for the 99th edition of Bacánika magazine featuring Adidas. We were talking about inspiration and how to overcome a creative block. In order to convey this concept we merged different characters and elements to get some crazy hybrids and thus creative ideas! Hope you like the process. :)

We started by sketching our first ideas in mind: a guy having some 'inspiration elements' floating around him.

With this first sketch we realized that 1) The main character was too big 2) He didn't seemed to be thinking, he was just standing there missing all the fun and 3) He kinda looked like Beckham haha

So we changed the guy, and the pose and came up with this:

Satisfied with that, we went to Illustrator and began to draw all of the lines in vector and arranging the composition in a better way. This gave us the clean look we were looking for.

The drawing was missing some extra elements to add movement to the composition, so we imagined some abstract figures and the 3 trademark stripes from Adidas to give it a better flow.

Allright! The main line was done, but it seemed a bit too crowded. However we still needed to color the whole thing up.

This was the final color version, some warm hues to the main elements and cold colors to put those abstract shapes in the back. Certainly a crazy color pallette for a crazy composition.
