About the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation

The executive chairman of the board of directors of Emergent BioSolutions Inc. in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Fuad El-Hibri has been at the forefront of developing and manufacturing important vaccines such as BioThrax, an anthrax vaccine. Apart from his professional life, Fuad El-Hibri also serves as the chairman and founder of the El-Hibri Charitable Foundation.

Established in 2001, the foundation focuses on providing assistance to individuals in need and promoting positive interfaith relations between Muslims and people of other faith backgrounds. The organization also works to give emerging Muslim leaders the tools they need to work effectively in their local communities, and form strategic partnerships with like-minded parties for the common good in a diverse and inclusive society.

The fundamental principle that guides the foundation is the Theory of Change -- a belief that empowered and fully funded nonprofit groups have the ability to make the country more inclusive through work in their local communities. The organization accomplishes this goal through the investment in individuals and funding of programs that both empower current leaders, and develop future leaders, in the Muslim world. The foundation also supports more mainline charitable efforts, such as providing financial support for orphans in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern nations.
