I was invited to photograph the 2013 Express 27 Nationals, held this year at the Richmond Yacht Club, across from the city of San Francisco. 

 

On the first day, I used a Canon 70-300 lens mounted with a polarized lens. I shot aperture priority with a speed of 1/2000 and a ISO of 640. Upon reviewing the photos after, I realized that the speed wasn't fast enough.

 

On the second day, still with a Canon 70-300 and a polarized lens, I shot aperture priority at a 1/3000 speed and an ISO of 800. Still the speed was not enough. 

 

The green waters of the bay and the urban background didn't do well with the vision I had so I desaturated the photos, keeping only the reds, yellows and blues. I also increased the highlights and whites to bring focus on the sails and boats.
