This design was done for Made in the Now
My story: the incident where David Nalbandian kicked the line judge.
My concept:
0-LOVE. That's what everyone seemed to get out of this whole
ordeal. Everyone was victim here. The poor line judge (who's shin was
mistakingly kicked and bloodied), the ATP (who Nalbandian quickly turned the
crowds attention to), Nalbandian's opponent, Marin Cilic (who won only by
default), and then of course David Nalbandian himself (the kicker, the one
disqualified, and the one who had to shamefully apologize). Heck, even the poor
sign that Nalbandian intended to kick was a bit beat up.
So naturally, I took a lighthearted approach to this.
While I don't follow tennis myself, I did find this story to be really
interesting and, well... entertaining. My love for typography was what was
going to carry me through this design and I jumped at the opportunity to do
some simple illustrations. Simple with a pop of color... and of course, a
little bit of love.
