The site of the project was in new development zone without anything preexisting. The requirements anticipated a green area onthe southwest, two streets northwest and northeast and room for expansion southeast.
The project starts with an H-shapedfloor plan scheme, just one building with two wings of different functions and a circulation core in the middle, the two main volumes aligning with the site boundaries: The consultations wind includes the whole program concerningmedical attention and as it sets the limit to the park the waiting halls enjoyviews to it; the second wing forms a limit towards the street, contains all the internal services and private parts of the Health Care Center, like administration, sanitary education, personnel area, social work and installations.
The footprint of the building divides the free space in two parts: on one hand, the north Avenue the sidewalk expands with the same pavement to create an entrance space, on the other, the southeast, a more private space, fenced, is treated with a soft pavement and is reserved for a possible ambulance parking space or for future expansion of the building.
The importance of such a facility for the city, both for the service that provides and for the symbolism it brings, makes the study of the skin essential. That led us to think of an image that gives the building its own personality and is a distinguishing element of the other facilities and houses that will appear around it. The building will therefore be dealt with as a sculptural element of continuous skin surrounding the perimeter to give uniformity to the volume, sun protection and privacy to the inside without losing the visual contact with the outside.
The whole structure,the facade cladding, interior divisions, etc are understood as a whole of industrialized products based on a modular system according to the program. The skin responds to that logic, generating a parameterized diversity, result of the abstraction of an image from the surrounding vegetation. Following this principle, starting from an existing perforated steel panel more or less dense perforations are cut out depending on the orientation and the function of interior space that is behind.
