Destined for needle and thread, Carolina Hernandez was born with the talent and passion for creating fabric masterpieces sewn into her DNA. Carolina is the owner and founder of Veteran Couture, a fashion line that embodies Carolina’s life experience, world travels as well as her vision for her life.
A childhood in Mexico spent watching her Mother and Grandmothers sew as they created the clothing Carolina and her sisters grew up wearing, inspired Carolina to pick up a sewing machine at age 16. Her passion for creating was awakened and as time has passed, that passion has continued to grow. For Carolina, barely a moment goes by where she is not creating her next masterpiece either in her head, on paper on or her machine. Carolina’s passion very quickly turned into a dream. Carolina decided she wanted to be a fashion designer and moved to Los Angeles in 2000.
The American dream often requires patience, hard work and dedication. Carolina needed to start by learning English. During that process, she realized how much her life had changed living in the United States. Carolina wanted to give something back to the country that had given her so much. So in 2005 Carolina enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on Active Duty for 4 years. In 2007 and 2008, she was involved in the partnership of the global Americas, and Maritime Security Operations in the Arabian Gulf. Carolina also served her country in Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012. Still, even today Carolina continues to serve, she is currently enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Carolina attended The Art Institute of California in San Diego. Carolina participated in the 6th Annual fashion show. She chose to display her costume collection “Danaus” (Queen Butterfly). She entered 5 gowns and bathing head pieces from this collection resulting in a win. She was awarded the “Most Creative” award and scholarship. Carolina graduated with high honors in 2014.
Carolina founded Veteran Couture in 2015. Her brand is inspired by her childhood, her military service and her travels. In her designs you will see vibrant colors, drama, exciting silhouettes that tease and trick the eye. Read Less
