"I considered Tom to be one of the most creative and impassioned individuals within the Creative organization of this multibillion-dollar organization. Tom had the ability to utilize his creative talent to exceed client’s demands, his work ethic to handle a multitude of projects with intense timelines, and his humor to defray even the most stressful situations.

… He is an employee with an incredible record of punctuality, client satisfaction, leadership, humor and ethical behavior. Any organization would be lucky to have him and I highly recommend him."

"• Team Player - Tom works in harmony with his co-workers, and with customers always in a positive way. He maintained a high degree of respect both internally and externally. In the 7 or 8 years of working with Tom I have never seen a conflict or objection that was not handled in a positive and constructive manner.

• Pride in his work - Very few people have the kind of "pride" in their work that is measured by how that work satisfies the customer. Tom is never satisfied until we were satisfied. Tough job as we are not an easy client. He cares and that basically says it all.

• Experience - Tom has a knack for package design. Some of his solutions to complicated packing requests from tough customers like Wal-Mart, Costco, and the Sports Authority were just terrific. Those solutions enabled our company to gain business over others by giving us just the point of difference that we needed."

"Tom Prager was the creative vision behind multiple lines of packaging… Tom has the innate ability to take words and ideas and create masterful works of art. He transcended the world of product + packaging designing in a way that breathed life into these staid categories. He looked past the ordinary and what had been done in the past to develop eye-popping, dynamic packaging in categories which otherwise would go unnoticed.

Tom understands the consumer, he understands marketing objectives of creating packaging that consumers will respond to, while allowing the retailer to increase POS sales in a retail environment.

In my opinion, Tom would be an asset to any design firm or brand team. He is creatively astute, easy to work with, and visionary beyond what you could imagine."

"In addition to design and marketing, Tom has mastered the technical aspects of website creation, including rapidly evolving social media. Communicating the many aspects of this field must be difficult with an audience that is as new to it as I was, but Tom’s skills include both communication and patience… He knows how to reach the next level of refinement, but not at the expense of a budget, a schedule, or human patience.

… It was fortunate for me that Tom Prager was available on a [web] consulting basis… His suggestions have consistently been presented in a gentle manner, using logical justifications based on his expert sense of customer perceptions and behavior.

It pleases me to recommend Tom for a… position that can utilize his many talents. He would enhance not just the vital skills needed for a creative organization, but also – with his integrity, diplomacy, and humor – its morale."

“I've been in the creative field from Production to Creative Director for over 40 years. I say this not as introduction to me but to illustrate that I have seen and worked with some of the best in the Industry. Tom is one of them, ranking near the top. I've seen designs of his where I get that feeling one gets sometime: "Geez that's great. Why didn't I do that? "Then it hits me: because I couldn't. The added variable is that he's personable, listens, thinks outside the box, uses common sense at the same time being innovative and just a nice guy; extremely rare traits today.” April 28, 2011

You can learn what you really need to know about me in those Testimonials up there ☝, or reviewing my Work History down there ☟. But it's recently come to my attention that some may question whether the work you see here was totally my creation, or whether it was just stuff I rearranged from pieces supplied to me. Nope, it's all my own stuff.

I've been around a long time and paid my dues ages ago, pasting up Yellow Pages ads and pizza flyers back in the deep dark Jurassic period with the best of em. I can do and have done plenty of advertising, collateral, the whole gamut. But when I discovered Consumer Goods Packaging Design as a freelancer back in the 1900s I fell in love – mainly because of the steady revenue stream it provided, doing hundreds of SKUs for ever-extending lines of merchandise, rather than little one-off brochures. But also because I had a feel for it.

As a consumer myself (not to mention every single person I've ever known), I knew how to speak to and persuade that target market. And as a pretty talented artist, I knew how to make stuff look better than it actually was – pretty much a requisite when you're selling doorknobs, dog food, what have you. I learned, or rather taught myself, that if you're gonna emulate (steal from) someone, emulate the best. And I learned that there's always room for improvement, and sometimes the wackier ideas separate you from the crowd. And I get some wacky ideas sometimes.

You also gotta know when to stop. So I developed a simple test: is the addition or subtraction or revision going to lead to the sale of even one more SKU? If so, do it. If not, lose it. Simple.

I could go on (and on and on), but I'll demonstrate my own advice and stop here. Read Less
