Hi there! My name is Tugrul Karacan and I am a self-taught artist/ illustrator born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. I studied visual communication design in Istanbul Bilgi University but I quickly found that I was drawn to drawing (haha!) more-so than design. Thus, in 2017 I moved to California in hopes of creating my professional career in illustration.
When I was a kid, I never believed that I could fulfill my dream of becoming a professional illustrator. In high school, I started drawing on any open space within my textbooks and soon was drawing with more than just my school pencils.
In Turkey, I wrote and illustrated for the same media company for 3 years. Within this duration, I composed a 150-piece comic series and just about 500 illustrations for kids.
Also, I created a few children's books for Rovio (Angry Birds Movie), Sweet Apple Publishers, and many others.
Now I am doodling some emojis and stickers for fun; I always loved working on expressions and funny faces, so emojis are very fun way to fuel my passions. Sometimes an emoji means more than thousand words... well... maybe not a thousand... a hundred?....ten?
