Tereza Bettinardi [Santa Maria, 1983] studied Journalism and graduated in Graphic Design from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Since 2014, she runs her own practice designing projects of visual identity, books, magazines, catalogs, CDs, packaging, promotional pieces, as well as special projects for other platforms.

Some of her projects were selected for exhibitions in the biennials organized by The Brazilian Association of Graphic Designers (ADG Brasil), Museu da Casa Brasileira (MCB) and Buenos Aires International Book Fair. She was awarded the Jabuti Prize for Best Graphic Design for the book “Decameron” by Giovanni Boccaccio published by Cosac Naify [together with Elaine Ramos]. In 2016, she won the Brazilian Music Award in Graphic Design category for the album “Dancê” by singer Tulipa Ruiz.

As part of her interest in combining writing with her graphic design practice, either through discussion or collaboration with publications, events and blogs, she participated in the Design Writing and Research Summer Intensive [2015] at the School of Visual Arts in New York, a two-week residency program devoted to research and writing about design.

She has also been involved with teaching Graphic Design — from workshops at Sesc Pompeia to classes at the Continuing Education Programs at Istituto Europeo di Design/São Paulo, and most recently at University of Campinas and Escola Britânica de Artes Criativas (EBAC). Since 2014, she runs A Escola Livre [along with Guilherme Falcão], an experimental school of graphic design that aims to ignite a dialogue on new ways of practicing and teaching design. Read Less
