I create my artwork in both the traditional mediums of watercolor, and oil as well as digital programs such as Procreate, Photoshop and Corel Draw. I also have over 16 years of experience working with and managing cad type design. My art is a reflection of my appreciation for God’s creation. Creating a painting is a spiritual experience for me; when I paint I attempt in a small way to mimic the stunning beauty of nature. My goal is to project the sense of inner peace that comes from viewing the glow of the afternoon sky, the majesty of the African elephant or the brilliant colors of a tropical bird. My painstaking efforts to design and paint, then analyze and work to improve have been and will continue to be a lifetime labor of love; all in an effort to present the viewer of a painting with the same sense of the beauty and serenity of nature that I feel. As an artist I want to have my work remind the viewer to take a moment to look beyond the monotony of everyday activities and the secular efforts we must all pursue and be emotionally uplifted by the transcending simplicity of the natural world.
I enjoy the challenges presented by different mediums; watercolor, oil, pastel, marker and digital. Each possesses unique properties that take skill to develop and can be implemented to provide just the right visual effect. I draw inspiration for a painting from personal experiences and observation. Often times, inspiration may be drawn from video programs that feature nature and wildlife from around the planet. Most outstanding to me was a safari trip to Namibia in 2005, where I was able to spend time observing elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, rhinos and more in their wild setting. This experience continues to yield rich artistic benefits. As an inhabitant of the state of Florida, I take great satisfaction and pleasure in being able to personally enjoy the incredible natural settings and diverse wildlife that are just a short distance away from even the most urban areas. Truly, Florida’s wildlife and landscapes continue to be an important catalyst for exciting artistic inspiration.
As I grow older, I continue to be influence by creative experiences that I have in my secular life; my experience as a graphic designer, as well as a scenic drafter and designer. In some of my work, particularly in my watercolors, I draw on that experience as I strive for a more graphic, illustrative quality to my work. I enjoy the challenge of designing a painting, building a composition that is appealing to the eye and using color harmonies and contrasts in value to create drama. I constantly seek to improve my draftsmanship in the interest of representing the subject and it’s environment in a way that accurately reflects it’s unique beauty. Read Less
