Lisa Syverson holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and Illustration from The Maryland Institute College of Art. Lisa has worked as a senior graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, art director, creative director, VP of marketing & publications, and educator during her professional career that spans more than 28 years. Lisa’s diverse background has provided her the opportunity to master a variety of roles, integrate the methodologies and processes of both art and design, and approach projects with a broader perspective. By incorporating her artistic vision, Lisa is able to generate distinctive and innovative solutions for her clients.
While attending MICA, she traveled to Turkey and discovered the beginnings of a lifelong passion for learning about other cultures, people, and indigenous art. Traveling extensively throughout the US and abroad has given Lisa invaluable insights and experiences that have influenced her professional, creative, and personal development.
In her travels abroad, Lisa gathered personal stories from the people she met - ranging from remote villages, to gorges and seaside towns - and created paintings about the people, their life and culture. She studied and was influenced by many artists, including Sunol Alvar, Hundertwasser, Gustav Klimt, Degas, Monet, and Manet. Lisa's travels have taken her to Turkey, England, Scotland, Jamaica, Mexico, France, Greece, Italy, and Belgium. Each of her extended visits to those countries resulted in volumes of photographs, stories, sketches, and research to aid in the development of her artwork.
As an artist, Lisa’s lifelong dream has been to enhance and touch the lives of people around the world through her rich creativity and imaginative works of art. Her artwork expresses her insatiable love of people and travel, sharing their intriguing stories along with the colorful tapestry of patterns, symbols, color, and textures drawn from her experience. She teaches us to see, not just observe our life that we may take for granted. She has developed unique techniques in her art that provide brilliant color and depth - capturing the essence of their experience, and environments.
Recently Lisa has begun to focus her artistic intention on health and healing. She is exploring how her art can enhance the health and well-being of all who come to experience and appreciate her work. She has a particular affinity with children and young adults, and enjoys teaching, nurturing their creativity through workshops and classes. Lisa looks to develop new projects and commissions which will allow her to express these new directions.
