For three decades, the Linda Jamieson School of Dance has provided children, teens, and young adults with expert instruction in a number of types of dance. The teachers uphold a commitment not only to developing students' concentration and technical abilities, but also to creating an environment that promotes support and respect. As a result, students of the Linda Jamieson School of Dance have gone on to acclaimed careers on Broadway, as members of professional ballet companies, and in the entertainment industry.

In order to offer dancers the best instruction possible, the Linda Jamieson School of Dance employs highly trained and accomplished teachers. In addition to its regular faculty members, the school brings in various guest artists, such as Derrick Yanford, who has starred in productions of West Side Story, Footloose, and Evita. Evelyn Hart, another guest instructor, is the Prima Ballerina of Canada and currently coaches ballet's rising stars. Other teachers include Christophe Maraval, formerly of the Paris Opera; Stacey Eastman, who handles choreography for the U.S. Tap Team; and Igor Petrov, who is on faculty at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.

Individuals begin at the school as early as age three, when they may join the Young Dancer Program, which provides a foundation in jazz, ballet, and tap. Other options include the Recreational Program, which divides students up into three age groups. The Pre-Professional Program, for those interested in pursuing a career in dance, requires prospective participants to complete an audition in order to gain admission. The Pre-Professional Program prepares students for success by offering instruction in repertoire, contemporary style, production, musical theatre, pas de deux, and more. Each dancer, no matter which program they take part in, participates in the school's June recital. Read Less
