I was born on May 7th 1982, In Turin, Italy.
Since my early age I had a strong passion for drawing and visual art in general. My school education began with the Technical Institute for Surveyors in 1996, where I acquire technical skills. In 2001, I continue my studies in Architecture Science at Turin Polythecnic: here I expand my skills in artistic and architectural courses developing a particular aptitude in observation and planning new urban spaces which I represent through traditional or digital techniques.
It’s as self-taught that I improved my graphic and artistic skills: in 2004 I joined AllKoolVision, a team of young graphic designers gamers who want to build a brand new game. I worked on it as level designer, designer of environments and buildings, texture-shader artist for 3d models. The project, named “The Cross Sign“, continues its production until the completion of a 3D map, but unfortunately it is not integrated into the graphic engine. However, it was a great opportunity to meet other people passionate about their work, exchange knowledge and grow together.
Strengthened by this experience, in October 2005, I joined Hive Division which was in pre-production for “Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy” a non-profit fan movie based from the games by Hideo Kojima. I worked as Architecture designer for CG scenes, matte painter and texturer supervisor.
The production of “MGS: Philanthropy” spread over five years: during this period, full of creative input, in December 2008 I graduated in Architectural Sciences with thesis “Video game as tool for knowledge and architecture design”. I hypothesized about the ability to know the real urban spaces and design new ones through a hypothetical video game.
In September 2009, the production of “MGS: philanthropy” is completed! On Internet, It get a worldwide success among fans of the game. Hive Division was the first Italian group that makes a sci-fi film with no budget, only through several collaborations on the Internet between people located in different places of the world.
This experience helped me to deepen my knowledge even more: the design of spaces, refine the traditional techniques for the concepts, learn new techniques for video production, such as matte painting, shading and texturing for 3D models.
I was invited as speaker in various events to talk about my experience in Hive Division; it was a good opportunity to expand my professional network, indeed I currently work as a set designer and mattepainter in collaboration with Deusexmachinastudio for the post-producion of R.O.A.C.H.: a cyber punk, no budget short film.
