Coen van Ham's profile

‘Brabant quarter-hour’

The Dutch are a punctual people, but in the provinceof North-Brabants there is a phrase allowing for an exception to this:'Brabants Kwartiertje' (Brabant quarter-hour), which is invoked or rememberedwhen appointments don't quite line up.
Dutch designer Coen van Hamhas in fact designed a watch around this principle. As he explains it,"[Brabants Kwartiertje] doesn't mean being late for an appointment, itmeans giving people the attention they deserve. In practice, this subtle watchor clock gives you a moment to focus on what's really important: time for eachother. And if that means you’re a bit late for the next meeting, then that’sjust the way it is."

This watch has a red quarter hand, moving along withthe black big hand.
