What happened in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 had a profound impact on me. I couldn't shake the thoughts of the crude oil pumping into the water and the wildlife helplessly getting caught in such a toxic potion. Inspiration hit while working with a dance troupe on a separate project, and we discussed the idea of bringing this struggle into contemporary dance. I allowed each dancer to interpret the disaster their own way.
