For a directed study on typography, I decided to focus on learning the history of the typeface Garamond. This is meant to be a folded-up 12x18" mailer. The poster is typeset in Adobe Garamond and has a limited color scheme, which together along with the type and decorative features, helps ground and connect all elements of the design.
Because of its bifurcated nature, I depicted Garamond's growth as a family tree, as seen on the back side of the poster. I hand-drew and then digitally edited the tree imagery, which allowed me to create an image that best suited Garamond's twists and turns in its development.
