Grapevine Craft Brewery's flagship beer also happens to be the first beer that was named and concepted during the brand development and identity development phase of our original project with GCB. GCB founder Gary Humble stated that inspiration from summertime fireworks over lake Grapevine led to Lakefire's name. The actual beer brand identity was created alongside the primary GCB brand but it wasn't until recently that we developed the aluminum can design for production. Lakefire cans are showing up around retailers both large and small in the North Texas region. The Challenge Our task was to successfully extend the GCB and Lakefire brand identities into a high-impact 12oz can design that would stand out in a beer aisle that is crowded with more and more craft beers each week. The Solution We utilized the actual bare aluminum of the can in the design as part of extending not only the core GCB brand but the Lakefire brand into this new packaging design. Once we received final design approval from GCB, federal and state agencies, we were able to send the final design off for production. We had to opportunity to be present at the Ball Corporation facility in Fort Worth, Texas to see the first run of Lakefire cans being produced side by side with Diet Coke cans. It was amazing to see the actual cans take shape and come to life in full color at a rate of over 2,000 cans per minute. Read Less
