A social game pitch for Capcom Street Fighter vs Tekken title

THE BRIEF

Our client knew that they had all the ingredients for a huge hit.  Two of the biggest franchises in fighting game genre going head to head in the same game, and a slew of new features to freshen up the gameplay a bit.  Our tasks was to come up with an idea that would not only get fighting fans excited and talking, but also speak to a bigger audience and draw them in.


THE CONCEPT


We knew that the fighting game fans or the core (in video game industry parlance) were the low hanging fruit. So we focused on the getting gamers that don't usually partake in the fighting game genre to consider. It was soon obvious that we need look anywhere beyond social games.


STRATEGY AND USER EXPERIENCE

To satisfy both core and non-core gamers we devised a tiered experience.  On Facebook the mechanics were aimed at the mass, it the tradition of the best Zynga games (ie a roll of the dice).  However on mobile, we wanted to take it further than a role of dice and introduce actual fighting game mechanic, ie the combo.

To capture the core, we integrated into the fight combos, to make the matches about skill rather than pure luck
