I have started to search possibilities about printed book design when developing my research questions. The experiment is to explore ideas about visual expression by using the printed page.

 

What the book records is the random DOC code from a website’s source. I would like to try to show this kind of code in a printed book, with a “linear narrative” way.

 

I found the code behind the site when I use Safari browser to open the page source. All the codes are hard to be understand and with very vast data. I copied  all the codes of the site and edited them by using Indesign. Then what happened? The Dropdown style text was seperated by printed pages, which was shown with different typeface and typography. I also used cut pages from old magazines of newspapers, and re-printed  my code on them. Finally, the book made by using these materials, which was formed the whole information of the site with a new way.

 

It is said that the electronic format is replacing the printed format, but what am I doing is try to do it with a opposite way. The rule is changed when the format transfer to printed media.
