Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge with Kathleen Illustrated - 8-19 June 2020 Building my Photoshop skills while completing 9 challenges!
Using these daily challenges to demonstrate my skills using Adobe Photoshop and the tools it offers to create visually engaging and creative visuals in imaginative ways.
Day Two: Mood Board Challenge
BRIEF: Create a mood board by combining imagery and texture with the frame tool.
My mood board turned into a retro postcard requesting and reflecting my desire to re-visit Tasmania. Photos were all my own and taken in Tasmania with the exception of the penguin which was taken at the Melbourne Aquarium. Was really going for an old world type feel with this one as I'm not sure if people still send postcards. Have used noise and filters along with a creased overlay to achieve the effect I was after.
Day Three: Monogram
BRIEF: Customise a monogram using Type tools and Blend Modes.
R is for Rhonda! At this point I'd just discovered 'Open Access' images at 'The Met' which is almost as brilliant online as it is in person! and now I find it's also an amazing source of inspiration and stock art. Another postcard with a quote ripped off from Bill and Ted ;-) - It was after all an 'Excellent Adventure' into the powerful and awesomeness of Blend Modes.

Day Four: Technicolor Postcard
BRIEF: Build a technicolor postcard by adding and editing custom colours.
Created 'Colour-rows' in Adobe Illustrator then moved it across to ps, applied color-lookup, gradient map and blur then used as background. Used blend mode to add water falling from fish. Fish was masked, warped and liquified.

STOCK ART: Images used in Day's Three and Four Challenges were sourced from The Met and Pixabay.
Day Five: Collage Illustration
BRIEF: Combine photos and shapes to create a collage illustration using Smart Shapes.
For this challenge Kathleen wanted us to create a postcard to inspire new graduates too 'Stay Curious'. Have used a bunch of 'Public Domain' stock images sourced from Rawpixel to create something that might alarm more than inspire ! lol. There's a whole lot going on here including a torn edges effect using the filter gallery (10 points if you can spot it!).
STOCK ART: Rawpixel.
Day Six: Double Exposure
BRIEF: Merge multiple photos for a double-exposure effect using layers and Masks.
Title: DAISY. Daisy's had a lot of work to make him look more friendly. Both images were masked and then had blend modes, filters and gradients added till I achieved the affect I was after.
STOCK ART: Images for Day Six Challenge were sourced from Rawpixel (Public Domain).

Day 7: Marbling
BRIEF: Liquify color for a custom marble texture.
Title: Dangerous cargo - I created this piece with inspiration taken from the book 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel. I started out in Adobe Illustrator where I traced the boat then moved it into Photoshop where I masked both the boy and tiger adding shadows and puppet warping the tigers feet. The background was created using solid colours and brush strokes on a single layer then using liquify to swirl it all together also threw in a couple of filters 'Chrome' 'Ocean Ripple' and 'Sponge' + Gradient Map + Color lookup... basically threw the kitchen sink at it.
STOCK ART: Boys on boat photo by Gokul Barman and tiger photo by Richard Verbeek from Pexels.
Day 8: Warp Text
BRIEF: Add movement to text using a Displacement Map.
Wanted to created my own background for the displacement map so used several black to white gradient stripes and then liquified to create the movement required. • The Submarine is from the PS custom shape tools. • Yellow Submarine lyrics are from The Beatles.
STOCK ART: Water bubbles were supplied by Paul Trani in a previous DCC.
Day 9: Actions
BRIEF: Explore Photoshop Actions to apply creative effects.
Applied 'Toon Action' created by Nuwan Panditha to my fish photo. Adjusted  layer filters to suit.
