Custom Designed Face Masks
I'd like to think that some time down the track I'll look back at this project and think what a strange thing to want to design graphics for! Inspiration for these designs came from a Béhance live stream ‘Designing Face Masks' with Paul Trani. Masks are most often created using patterns or text but I wanted to do something a little different so all these designs follow a similar theme in that they represent mouths in different and original ways. - you could choose one depending on your particular mood or holiday theme.
Zipper Face Mask
This was my original idea and the one I wanted to create the most. As soon as I started watching Paul's live stream I had this idea of being able to see what's going on behind the mask - I though what fun to put a zipper on the mask and have it open! and If so what would be seen behind? Turns out it's a kind of anxious chewy lip kind of pop art mouth!
Zip, lips and edge of mask were all created in Adobe Illustrator then moved into Photoshop where filters including that pencil drawn pattern on the area outside the zip area were added.
Kissing Heart Emoji Face Mask
Created my version of the kissing heart emoji and applied it to a face mask. Used bevel and emboss to create similar to Apple iPhone emoji.
Bubble Gum Face Mask
Pop art inspired lips blowing bubble gum, I created original lips and bubble in Adobe Illustrator and then moved it across to Photoshop to apply to face mask and add in filter gallery effects to transparent bubble and lips.
Halloween Face Mask
Created entirely in Photoshop I created the pumpkin first using fills, brushes and filters to add texture and a light sheen to the pumpkin surface then masked out the mouth and added gradient shapes to make the carved out part of the mouth. Hoping that face masks will not be required by Halloween!
