The Beethoven poster for the Tonhalle series is one of Müller-Brockmann's classics. The stark black and white and moving circle arcs hint at the drama of Beethoven's music.

The movement of the arcs around the center of the circle is based on a module of 11.25º. This module defines the length of the arcs as 5 segments, 6 segments, 7 segments, etc.. The width of the arcs is based on a doubling principle as 1, 2,4, 8, 16.
