With thousands of courts available across the country, including at least one in every state, there are many opportunities to play pickleball. The Palo Alto Pickleball Club, located at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, California, features 15 public outdoor courts and is open from 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week. Diverse in their interests other than pickleball, the club's 400 members range in age from 5 to 93 years. While many of the members share little other than a love for the game, they all enjoy the camaraderie, exercise, and competition.

Anyone wishing to become a member can fill out an application found on the club's website at www.paloaltopickleballclub.org, or pick one up at the courts. Membership benefits include clinics, round robin play, tournaments, and open play, as well as usage of balls and paddle loaners. There is also the opportunity to meet and make new friends at potluck pickleball parties and other social events.
