The drastic drop in demand for milk from the prepared food industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused dairy farmers to dump tremendous amount of excess milk down the drain. Between 2.7 and 3.7 million gallons of milk could be dumped per day in the US alone. On the other hand, supply of milk in grocery stores remained empty as people are panic-buying during quarantine.

We were each assigned individual topics for our research project and I was given milk as my topic. Upon my research, I found out about the milk dumping case across multiple European countries and the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I opted to make milk soap to raise the awareness by showing alternative ways in which the dumped milk could be reused while staying relatable to our increased needs in soap during the pandemic. Putting the carved milk soap inside a clear soap is supposed to symbolize the atrocious dairy industry going to waste by drowning them.
