Lost & Found. Stop Motion Feature Film

LOST & FOUND ( tbc)
A bite of the pre-production step of the animation film

Mini-Hands: I drilled small holes (1.2 mm) to place the wire-armature's fingers.
Sometimes Less is More!

Keeping in mind the idea of  having a "traditional puppet look like" instead a
"human child" director rather prefered the hand with less details.
Final Sculpture
Sometimes More is More
Details like heel, creases, a touch of  wear, shoelaces holes, were added on the sculpture step.
Here you can see two kind of sockers with and without texture.

I love making shoes.
2D desing was enough clear to get the style and enough open to research the best fit.
As puppet maker you have to frosee troubles and benefits to adapt the 2D desing to the real 3D and final situation with the armature inside of it and get the best result as possible, having in mind, the upcoming work of animators and workshop's team.

Small details like better position of the trousers' buttons, textures of fabric, size of the shoes' tonge, heels  where also added during this step.
Sculpture work in progress
Mold's detail process
Molds, Silicone and Paint are like a paralel worlds in fact. Brands, atmospheric conditions, interaction between materials, etc.
My college conmanded the pipeline of these step and we followed the same process for each developed character.
Luck and good conditions were on our side as well.
Adapting a fantastic character's design is totally fun and a real challenge to achieve the final look.
Homeopatic proposal are welcome from director.
Extra Time
Finding proper materials is a research work and it takes a looong time...
Look at this fabric!!!! (sending pictures from the store to the team)
A touch of lucky this time!
Life: I growed up being the child-model to my family woman-tailors... My Grandma and my Aunt...
Tailoring was so boring for me in those days. Threading needles was my firts charge...

After many years seeing others making patterns, cutting, sewing I discovered that It was really usefull when I had to face this tiny polo t-sirth! Never minded before!
It was swen with a needle number 000.......
Small details were placed with special fabric glue.
Real 3D KEY DESING
First Model Test: It was  made  just in order to clarify design, doubts and details with director and team.
Transferring the 2D design into the real 3D dimensions is a very decisive step, where the character reaches its final desing.
Wig's final Look
(back view)
Small details like adding more strands of hair in order to keep the 2D silhouette, shape, where added at the end of the process.
