The Little Prince*El Principito* - Personal Tribute -

MAKING OF THE LITTLE PRINCE'S TRIBUTE
“What is essential, is invisible to the eye''

This is my personal tribute...

...TO the new immortal film The Little Prince Movie from Mark Osborne, Jamie Caliri and their whole fantastic crew and to the original book Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

If you have a look to the credit list, you’ll understand the recipe of this success lead from Mark Osborne one of the directors and producers of Kung Fu Panda (2008), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004).
You can feel the delicate touch of light and design from the tamdem Jamie Caliri & Alexander Juhasz on the glorious stop motion sequences. I always declared myself an unconditional fan of all their previous artwork as well.

They reach an unusual and exquisite 3D CGI+Traditional Stop Motion production, masterfully mixed and riding.
The story is a transcended and amplified contemporany proposal, one step ahead from the original book.
Mark Osborne (3D Dir) and Jamie Caliri (Stop Motion Dir.) get the perfect balance between challenge and privilege.
Suitable for all ages even for those who have lost a bite of their “inner child” or…completely.

LOVE, HOPE, IMAGINATION and a clear BLUE Sky full of STAR is what we need!
According to the book the film is also full of many valuable lessons about life:

“What is essential, is invisible to the eye''
“The problem is no growing up, forgetting is”
are one of the most inspirationals quotes that I've heard recently…
I found such a personal direct message to me… So here my personal tribute, a 100% puppet handmade and a short animation (test).

I encourage all of you to go to see this film. On Cinemas in Spain (from 9th. Septembre) and NETFLIX.
Long life to Stop-Motion and eternal stories!
Best whises,

Nuria Garcia
Fast Paper Scarf Animation TEST 01 (75 frames)
Sorry Coulnd't wait! This is a fast material test!I was pretty sure that the scarf was suitable to be animated...
Yes, it's suitable to be animated but:I need to reinforce it for a proper animation (new wire armature and less paper)
Moviments must be clearer and simple...less is more here.
Fix the platform&CH stronger.
Perspective is critical too (silhouette value/waves)
I was studying from the originals of Alexander Juhas and captures of the final frames with the final desing character desing and custom.
The Little Prince oversee BARCELONA at night.
( One of the more specials and highest places in the city)
ARMATURE -WORK IN PROGRESS-
I made a handmade ball&socket joint armature few years ago, I've resized and fixed it to becomes a new one now.
Some smaller pieces, new flat head cap screws, etc.
It's a delicate process because of the size/scale and the material of which it is made.
I use protection and a magnet to protect myself againt the metalic dust and micro shards...
ARMATURE -WORK IN PROGRESS-
Raiders of the rice's paper: The biggest paper store in Barcelona was "under remodeling process" totally closed...
I've visited other stores but  I couldn't find the proper paper so I used white "crepe paper" and I tinted it...green, yellow, orange...finding a nice and intense color and texture.
PUPPET -WORK IN PROGRESS
I was thinking of making a "poseable" character but the puppet was growing and now it can be animated!
For a proper animation I really need to make a bigger suit than the current because as animator we need an extra
for extreme poses ( extended/contracted arms for example).
ARMATURE -WORK IN PROGRESS-
I used foam, hot glue, and "sticking-plaster-paper" for the body. The balls are 4mm and screws are 3mm!
I needed a smaller piece for the neck...so I went to visit my college Edu Puertas and he helps to me with the neck joint
the smallest piece of my armature, just like my pinky nail!
The Little Prince oversee "Land's End"
One of the most septemtrional coast in Spain near from "Finisterre" The name Fisterre comes from Latin FINIS TERRAE, meaning "Land's End". This name stems from the fact that this area is on a remote peninsula that is one of the westernmost points of land in Galicia, and hence in Spain/Europe.... So a very special place.
Travelling with The Little Prince oversee "Land's End"
Other special places are waiting for our visit! Next stop....?
